1st Detox Green Juice

Dee and I decided to join forces and buy a juicer. After hours and days of searching online, we finally ordered the Omega NC900 masticating juicer. We got it today and wanted to test it out, so we made the recipe by Dan McDonald I had posted on my timeline earlier this past week. Boy did it come out good. This was Dee's first homemade green juice, and her body was tingling with appreciation from head to toe. A great way to start the new year!

This juicer is a slow juicer, conserving a hefty amount of nutrients in a form that is electrically charged. Many other juicers can spoil nutrients by oxidizing them, leaving the juice to be deprived of life energy - the force that rejuvenate your cells and helps them detox (clear wastes).

Paleo Pecan Almcoco Chocolate Chip Cookies

Since Deanna and I had started making Almond milk, just like our coconut milk adventure, we now have some homemade almond flour. An Almond Milk "How-to" article will come soon.

So searching online came up with tons of options, but I wanted to check youtube for a good recipe. I found this video I am sharing with you:

The presenter, Diana, gives a brief talk in the beginning and then shares an awesome demonstration of the simple ingredients she combines to make these wonderful cookies.

My taste buds were flaring in delight when I took the first bite. The cookies do not get hard and dry, they remain in good moisture, just the right level of delicacy that enables the flours and pecans to hold together and no crumbs made. The chocolate chips add a good taste of chocolate, and the only other taste that dominates is the delicate pecans.

I took it a step further and soaked the pecans overnight, and then dehydrated them for 15 min in the oven over 350 degrees. They came out sweetly hydrated, which could have made the difference with the end product being softer.

Here are my results, evinced by two photos.

Lemons!! Who doesn’t like lemons! I love lemons. Its a delightful fruit that is so refreshing it can zest up any dish with a bit of sweet-tartness. It has such an amazing nutritional value that anyone can benefit from it. Lemons can alkaline your body, help with digestion, acne, and it has a great source of vitamin C to boost the immune system. Plus many more benefits. Follow this link to see the benefits and history on lemons.

Fortunately, in my backyard there is a lemon tree so I can use them on a daily basis. Our lemon tree is blooming with many lemons that I felt the need to utilize them. I remember Joel mentioning how his mom would make him lemon meringue pie for his birthday. I like lemon meringue pie, but I LOVE Lemon bars. I figured its close enough. So I found an easy and simple recipe on how to make it, so I can surprise him. It turned out really well and Joel Loved it!

RAW Chocolate Pudding

Working for Whole Foods Market has its spontaneous advantages. Scrolling through the many recipes the Health Starts Here program offers, Dee had found a recipe and made it one movie night. To our delight, we fell in love with it on our first bite and periodically Dee makes it.

Though the recipe at Whole Foods Market turns out a bit too thick, we ended up attempting all sorts of adjustments to balance the sweetness and reduce the thickness. We were successful...!

Yolkado© - RAW Avocado & Egg Yolk Dip/Spread

Yolkado ©

A dip is a fun thing to have every so often, for the pleasure of using our hands so we may be able to connect with our food on personal level. This dip can also be used as a spread. The fun part, it is rich and filling, as well as vibrant in its quality.

We can literally make this withing 5 minutes and gobble it down in less. Easy to make at work, enjoyable at potlucks as dips for finger carrots or bread.

Yolkado© is an original recipe combining Egg yolks and an Avocado. Delicious!

Ezekiel Sprouted Pizza

After learning about Ezekiel sprouted bread from Joel’s friend Asi, on our team appreciation week 40% off we took the opportunity and bought ourselves Ezekiel sprouted tortillas. Such Bliss!

The recipe is not made from scratch, since we use the ready made sprouted tortillas, and the method is derived from an web source.

We just loved this and had to express our love for Italian cuisine.

RAW Tahini Dip

Joel had the privilege of learning in Israel how Tahini is made traditionally and deliciously.

The crave for hummus was on, but chickpeas are too hard on our digestion, so instead we decided to indulge on Tahini.

How wonderful it is to dip sprouted grain bread and finger carrots into this hummus-texture-like Tahini. We are hooked!

We made this out of scratch, using raw sesame seeds that had to be ground up, so it turns out to  be fresh and nourishing!

Homemade Coconut Milk

I love coconut, and it sure loves me.
My love for it makes me want to make art with it!

This is a short guide to proper production of coconut milk,
using only dry coconut shreds and water.

Coconut milk is a tasty beverage,
and consumable by anyone, as long as you love the taste of coconut!

Our way to prepare and cook Steak

Desserts are a wonderful thing to have,
but what about a nourishing meal?

In this world where we eat food that has a face,
and we thank the spirit of the animal for its contribution to our body,
we tend to neglect the effect of cooking food on our digestion.

Food that we cook looses valuable life energy (electron charge in antioxidants),
and the high temperatures of cooking can cause many of the proteins to turn into
heterocyclic amines, which are carcinogens in meat and very detrimental to our gut.

Bliss MacStachios

So, as me and Dee experiment further,
we gave a try at producing a chocolate core.

Guess what? it came out delicious!
Even though this word, delicious, is used a lot here,
it nonetheless is a word our friends use to describe it.

Chilled MacStachios

This is an experiment that had gone delicious!
The recipe resembles the Original MacStachio,
but has a coconut butter core and is laced with hazelnut!

Unlike the Original MacStachio,
that is delicious to eat straight out of the freezer,
this Chilled version is best experienced chilled.
